Fans of the franchise will scream bloody murder when they see this score, while casual gamers are gonna think the grade is at least a couple points too high.
Sound-wise the game is great, even if the soundtrack feels bland at times, relying on one or two memorable tracks.Īs was the case with Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories on PS1, The Duelists of the Roses is a true love it/hate it kind of game. The card game itself doesn’t look very good, spells and monsters look fine but the CG animated snippets just break immersion. Combat itself is confusing at first, but once rules and victory or defeat conditions become clear, the game becomes very easy. Even at the time of its release its graphics weren’t impressive and were more in line with PlayStation One games. Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses is an older title and the visuals clearly display it. The game is different from the series, and other Yu-Gi-Oh! Titles in the way that cards move, and by the presence of the “Deck Leader” which is a card needed to be able to play the game, since it contains your Leader Points. Finally, cards are unveiled and the resolution of effects, attacks, and defenses are done. Players are then tasked with assembling a deck and playing opponents in a turn-based, strategy, and set-up manner. Each player has a deck of cards composed of monsters, spells, and traps.

The gameplay here is similar to what fans of the series will remember. Of course, there are creative liberties taken, but aside from the character swapping, and the battles being waged through the card games this is a fun historical adaptation. This war took place in 1485 between the houses of Lancaster and York, and their representatives Henry Tudor and Christian Rosenkrauz are substituted by the protagonist Yami Yugi and his rival Seto Kaiba respectively. However here Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses takes a very bold move and retells - in a surprisingly unique fashion the English War of the Roses. The anime/manga itself is known for having characters from ancient Egypt play an important role in the plot of the original series. Bringin fan-favorite characters from the anime to actual real-life events. One of the best things in this game is the premise creators took with the narrative. Available originally for the PlayStation 2, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses was met with mixed reviews by fans and critics. The title carries the name of the popular anime franchise Yu-Gi-Oh but takes some creative liberty with the stories it tells. I'll make another someday Probably Ingame.Released in September 2001 by Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses is a strategy card game published and developed by Konami. Hopefully reading 30+ card decks wont be too bad.īy this way this Rule book is completely outdated. Some Decks are better than others only because I haven't tested them for balance. All the decks turned face-down are the decks ready to go, the ones turned face-up are incomplete. If you want to play you can try the prebuilt decks. Im sure their are some broken combination of cards or text that are far too wordy or just makes absolutely no sense.
This Game is really complex probably far to much for it's own good, but that is the sacrfice I made when making it, to create depth. Each card is not made to be just a stronger card of another, but to be complex and truly build unique decks with combinations and combos even as the person who made it hasn't seen before. I created this game to recreate yugioh in the image of The Duelist of the Roses Style to make every card you would see in normal yugioh to actually a have purpose.
There are so many more cards as I only managed to get up to most of GX and fragments of cards beyond that. This Game is inspired By Duelist of The Roses for the playstation 2.
